Italy: 300 Volunteers Mobilised as 500,000 Drug-Prevention Booklets Are Distributed
Milan, 12 February 2026 — Around 300 volunteers have been active since January in multiple Italian cities in a prevention-through-information campaign, handing out prevention materials titled “The Truth About Drugs”. Organisers report that over 500,000 copies have already been handed out, starting in Milan and expanding to additional cities.
The European Office of the Church of Scientology is among those supporting the campaign within its broader support for drug education and prevention initiatives inspired by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. The materials aim to provide clear, accessible information about commonly abused substances and their risks.
Organisers also highlight athlete involvement. They say 100+ athletes associated with Milano Cortina 2026 have added their names to the Foundation for a Drug-Free World Honorary Register, backing prevention messaging aimed at young people. Organisers argue, sport provides a natural platform for prevention conversations because it is associated with discipline, recovery and mental focus.
Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, the Council of Europe and the Drug Prevention UN, said: “Across Europe, youth safeguarding is both a public-health goal and a civic responsibility. Verified, accessible information strengthens informed decision-making, and it helps communities reduce the social space in which criminal networks operate.”
